Cirque du Soleil is one of Canada’s greatest success stories. Originating in Montreal, the company re-fashioned the circus by returning to the theatrical arts and dispensing with animal acts. They looked to Europe for inspiration where innovative companies such as the Roncalli Circus were blending the traditional arts of clown and acrobatics with multi-media effects and popular music.
