In this painting three historic buildings stand on an island above the excavation. In the centre is the former home of Henry Scadding, Toronto's preeminent 19th-century historian and rector of the church. The house was moved from the north to the south side of Trinity Square in 1974. Behind it stands Holy Trinity Church and Holy Trinity parsonage is at right.
The first phase of Eaton Centre was opened in 1977, the second in 1979, and third was approved by the City in 1982. Eaton's warehouses on Bay Street, shown behind the Holy Trinity buildings, were demolished for the shopping centre.
